On Sunday February 1, 2009, Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Powdersville held a Ground Breaking Ceremony for its new church building. The new church building will be located on Hwy 81 in Powdersville next to the entrance of the Jameson Place subdivision. The Building Committee (pictured) was given the honor of turning over the first pieces of ground. Other members of the congregation, along with Dr. Broadus Moody and Keith Mincey of the Piedmont Baptist Association, were then given the opportunity to do so as well. The Jameson Place Club Board of Directors was also present at the special ceremony. Grading work should begin soon. The church hopes to have the building completed by the end of the year.

Mount Moriah Baptist Church is currently located at 620 Powdersville Main in Powdersville behind the Powdersville Family Practice. Anyone who does not currently have a church home is welcome to join us in worship. Sunday School begins at 9:00 am with Morning Worship beginning at 10:00 am. Powdersville, SC

Powdersville is conveniently located at the northern tip of Anderson County South Carolina, not far from Greenville and Easley. Since it is unincorporated, its boundaries are not well defined.  Lately, Powdersville has been undergoing unprecedented growth for several reasons. Click here for map.

  • Convenient location - makes it easy to commute to either Greenville, Easley, or Anderson.

  • Good schools - where both the parents and the teachers take an interest in your child's education (No I am not a teacher -- just one of those interested parents).

  • It is one of the few areas near Greenville where you can still buy a house with a large lot.

  • Small town hospitality -While Powdersville is growing rapidly, it has that small town feeling where you can walk down the street and people call you by name.

Since Powdersville is in Anderson County, residents pay Anderson County taxes.  However, most of the phone service in the area uses a Greenville exchange, and the addresses can have either an Easley (29642), Piedmont (29673), or occasionally a Greenville Zip Code (29611).
